Ghost Ants

Tapinoma melanocephalum — also called “sugar ants” by most South Florida homeowners — are one of the most frustrating pests in Broward County. These tiny, pale-legged ants are barely visible to the naked eye, but they show up in force: kitchen counters, bathroom grout, around window frames, and anywhere moisture collects. What makes ghost ants so stubborn is their colony structure — a single colony can have multiple queens and branch into “satellite colonies” throughout a home. Spraying them with store-bought products almost always makes things worse by causing the colony to split and spread.
