Are landlords responsible for pest control?

Pest control is a joint responsibility shared between landlords and tenants. While it is vital that landlords take proactive steps to prevent infestations, tenants also play a crucial role in maintaining a pest-free environment. Landlords should take the steps to work closely with a professional pest control agency to implement preventive measures, such as regular inspections and treatments. Landlords also need to ensure that the property is properly sealed and provide guidelines on cleanliness and waste management to potential tenants. However, once a tenant enters the property, they need to promptly report any pest issues to their landlord and maintain cleanliness in their living spaces. By working together, both parties can create a pest-free environment that benefits everyone involved.

How long does a pest control treatment last?

As a property manager, you don’t want to subject your renters to frequent visits from a pest control company. Different treatments last for different periods of time, and treatments differ depending on the pest, so we work with you to figure out a plan and schedule that is tailored specifically to you and your renters. We strive to meet your specific needs, including treatment date, treatment time, treatment method, and more. If you’re wondering whether pest control is viable, give our experts a call and we’ll be sure to work something out that works for you.

How should a property manager prevent a pest infestation?

In order to prevent a pest infestation, a property manager needs to work alongside an experienced property management pest control company. One of the most effective measures a property manager can take is to invest in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in collaboration with a property management pest control company. This strategy focuses on long-term solutions. The property manager should also conduct regular inspections to identify any signs of pest activity and potential entry points and should also seal cracks and gaps, remove food and water sources, and maintain cleanliness throughout the property. By partnering with a property management pest control company that specializes in IPM, the property manager can develop a customized pest control plan, including preventive measures, monitoring, and targeted treatments when necessary, ensuring a proactive approach to pest management.

Can I call pest control for my rented property?

Yes, tenants have the right to call for pest control services for their property. If you notice signs of a pest infestation or suspect the presence of pests, you should promptly notify your landlord or property management team. Your landlord or property manager should then coordinate with a professional pest control company to address the issue. It is important for tenants to report any pest problems they encounter to ensure a timely response and effective pest management. By taking proactive steps and involving pest control professionals, tenants can help maintain a pest-free environment.
